  1. I’ve know Katerina since 2013, when I joined her dance class for a trial. Once I started to learn the belly dance with such an excellent teacher it became part of my weekly routine (besides practicing at home) which is definitely a mood elevator, good exercise, socializing, laughter & fun.
Katerina is a methodical, patient and friendly teacher with a cheerful personality which makes dancing a joy for me. The students are of all age groups from teenagers to octogenarian.

About 14 months ago I moved to another county and tried to look for another Belly dance class but didn’t manage it. Fortunately, the lock down was a blessing in disguise for me – Katerina informed me about the dance class via Zoom and I jumped with joy 🙂🙃😊🤗🤗

The dance music chosen by Katerina is excellent, lively and melodious and the attire (long skirt and jingly belt) is colourful and stylish.

I am so lucky to have such a teacher – it keeps me fit and happy. The dance moves are intricate and good for the whole body.

A big thanks to Katerina. May we all continue dancing together for many years to come!!

  2. I joined Katerina’s class around two and a half years ago having never done any belly dancing before. As soon as I had my first lesson I was amazed at how much I enjoyed it, and have continued attending ever since! The dances give you the feeling of femininity and elegance, as you shimmy and twirl through many different musical pieces. The routines also work your core and other key muscle groups – which is an added bonus for me!
I find myself looking forward to the classes each week. Not only do we get to learn new moves and routines, but we have lots of fun whilst we are doing it! The music is well chosen, and the moves match the rhythm perfectly. The whole thing ends up being quite enchanting!
Katerina’s teaching methods are very well structured, and seem to have a natural flow to them that allow for each student to follow and learn with confidence.
I’m very glad we have been able to continue our classes online during the pandemic. The teaching has continued to be excellent, and we have added new routines to our repertoire! The opportunity to practise the dances online is an advantage – I often log in and put on a show for my family, who absolutely love my newfound love of belly dancing!
The classes form part of my fitness routine for the week and have now become a regular part of my weekly plans. I would highly recommend the classes to anyone looking for a fun fitness activity involving learning a new set of dance skills and meeting new people at the same time!

  3. I ❤️ my Belly Dancing class! Believe me, this dance is especially wonderful for one’s core muscles, balance and also so amazing to keep the brain young & active. I had been belly dancing when I lived in Yorkshire so I was keen to join another class when I moved to Leicester. I joined Katerina’s class a couple of years ago and I have learnt so many new moves. Her choreography is very artistic and she teaches this with superb skill, patience, understanding and a great sense of humour. All of us in the class have so much fun. I’ve made some lovely friends and kept supple &fit.. Since the Covid crisis the classes have been held via Zoom. This has not posed any problem as Katerina can “see”us to check that we are still dancing correctly. We have been able to practice our previous dances together and also learn several new dances. Even when I was in Madeira on holiday, I could still tune in and join the classes.
Thanks for your perpetual cheerfulness and all your help Katerina and 🥂🍾here’s to when we can resume our live classes.

  5. That day back in the summer when I read a post on Facebook from Katerina asking if there would be anyone wanting to start beginners belly dance online…
So after a lovely chat with Katerina over the phone I decided to give it a go ( something to look forward to in these lockdown times)…I haven’t looked back since 😁 Katerina is so lovely and patient and explains every dance move in detail, I have now completed 2 dance routines and absolutely love it the music and routines are fantastic ❤️
I can’t wait for the time we can get together in person, meet Katerina and the “voices on zoom” but for now it couldn’t be better 😁
I’d say to anyone thinking of having a go …just do it ! x

  6. I started belly dancing with Katerina about three years ago because I wanted to increase my core strength to deal with sciatica, address imbalances after a severe ankle break, have fun and learn something new. Katerina’s classes fulfil all of these requirements. Classes are fun, relaxed and friendly, unless you are a weak stomach muscle, in which case, I can promise, you’ll be bucking up your ideas!
For the last year, online classes have been even more essential, and although I miss dancing and laughing with all the girls, it does give others further afield the chance to join in. We have also been deprived of opportunities to perform, which is a nerve wracking but rewarding undertaking.
I hope to continue belly dancing at least until I master the sublime smile Katerina wears with ease, and I’ve got a long way to go from the frown and grimace of concentration I carry now!

Because belly dancing revolves around core muscles and involves muscle isolation, it is great for mobility and stability

  7. When the first lock down hit us I was so worried all the dancing would stop. I am so glad Katerina quickly organised us into small groups for Zoom lessons. Not quite as fun as actually all being together but a good second best which has allowed us to keep our fitness levels up and progress with learning new routines. Thanks for making the transition easy and all your hard work Katerina.

  10. When I tell people that I go to belly dancing classes, I often get the reaction something like “Oh that sounds lovely, but I’m not slim enough/not young enough/not fit enough and I couldn’t possibly have a bare midriff!” So then I explain that it doesn’t matter how old or fit you are, or what size, and you certainly don’t need to bare any parts of your body that you don’t want to!! It’s a truly lovely way to exercise, learn some beautiful dances and have some fun.

I’ve been to various classes and workshops over the years and have met some lovely people. But I will be staying with Katerina for many years to come, I hope! She is a talented dancer and a gifted teacher. I’ve learned more from her classes during the last two years than any of the others. She spends a little time with everyone during the class and quietly makes sure that you are doing the various moves to the best of your age and ability. She also has a great sense of humour and is just lovely!!

  11. I have been attending Katerina’s Belly Dance Classes now for 18 months or so but have previously attended a few years ago but for personal reasons had to give up, but I’m so happy to be attending again. Katerina is an excellent teacher, she is always cheerful and I can guarantee you’ll have a great laugh as well as learning a new skill. The classes are just the right size and all the ladies are a really friendly bunch and we especially like to make all new ladies welcome. After finishing the class I am always full of energy and definitely more cheerful. It has been especially good for my mental health as well as my physical health. Katerina is a superb teacher who thoroughly enjoys teaching us the art of Bellydancing I would definitely recommend you give the classes a try, just dive right in you might be surprised at how much you’ll enjoy it!!

  12. I began lessons with Katerina just over a year ago. Her classes are fun and she is an excellent teacher who breaks up the dances into manageable sections. Within a few months I had a few routines under my ( belly dance) belt. I would highly recommend belly dancing as an activity which gives a decent workout suitable for all ages. It is a class that you could attend on your own – as I did – without feeling self conscious as it’s a friendly group. You may however become addicted!

  14. Belly dancing is for any age any size and any ability. I started when I was aged 65 with a bit of trepidation but I need not have worried. Katerina is very friendly, has a good sense of humour and sees the potential in us all. Consequently the group of ladies are very friendly and respectful of each other and so as the weeks/ months / years go by there is certainly a sense of belonging.

The exercise is amazing and tones every part of the body without undue stress and I have noticed the improvement in everyday life. I am also convinced that the learning of routines, in us older ladies helps to stimulate the memory cells and improves ones self-confidence.

Whatever age, size and ability you are, come and give belly dancing a try- you certainly won’t look back!

and I still look forward to each weeks lesson. I have learnt so many moves and despite now having rheumatoid arthritis I still manage nearly everything. The challenge of learning is still very good for body and mind, and I have quite a collection of beautiful skirts and belts.
Well done Katerina for your gifted teaching.

It does not matter what age, size or shape we are its a great way to get involved and make new friends as well as learning to move parts of your body you didn’t know you had. you wont regret it. 17. My mother and myself have been attending Katerina’s Egyptian Dancing classes for nearly 2 years. I love all forms of dancing, and I loathe anything high impact. This dance class is perfect for me. A really fun way to keep fit and learn something new. Katerina is an excellent teacher and choreographer and breaks down each move until you have it right. Don’t think about joining, just do it! You won’t regret it.

After a couple of years of medical problems, then losing my dad and my best friend both unexpectedly and within 24 hours of each other my social anxiety was out of control and I needed something to focus on and lift me again. Decided I wanted to learn to belly dance for some reason. Found Katerina’s class on a Thursday evening and just love it. The group is a nice size and mix of people, friendly but not over the top. Katerina is welcoming and teaches in an easy to follow fun way. I find myself laughing and smiling for that hour and it’s making such a difference to me. Xx

  20. I have been attending Katerina’s belly dance classes for nearly 10 years. The classes are a brilliant work out, good fun and with a relaxed atmosphere. I feel a great sense of achievement as I master (or at least get better at!) increasingly complex moves which are combined into dance routines (of which I now have a repertoire of about 11, more or less!). Katerina is a brilliant teacher who doesn’t just show you the dance steps, she breaks them down into their component parts so you have a much better idea as what they SHOULD look and feel like. I would thoroughly recommend Katerina’s classes to anyone, regardless of age.

  21. I began Katerina’s class almost 10 years ago. Initially not knowing what I was doing, I noticed I had a big smile on my face. A brilliant class with choreographed routines to learn (and remember) as well as the various different body movements. It keeps body and mind in shape and is great fun.

  22. I started belly dance because I was feeling a bit low about myself and wanted to do an exercise where I didn’t have to sweat profusely and feel like I had to compete with others. I went to Katerina’s class thinking “I’ll just give it a go, finish the block of classes and if I don’t like it I won’t come back”. Two years later and I’m still going, I love every minute. The class is a great mixture of ages, shapes and sizes and no one judges you, it’s all about having fun and we have a great laugh. As a teacher Katerina is very patient and encouraging and she’s a wonderful dancer. Belly dance is great exercise for toning and strengthening your body and in my case, helps with balance and coordination although when we’re starting with new moves you’d never know . When I’m feeling a bit crappy and lethargic I’ll go to class and when I come home I feel great. I love it

  23. I joined Katerina’s class almost 3 years ago and can honestly say I felt at home with the group from day 1. I knew no-one in the group but now feel I have made some good friends. Firstly about Katerina. I find her really professional (unlike some other dance teachers I have had classes with!) and dedicated to teaching her pupils even when she has not been feeling at her best. Her love of dancing comes over with the patience she shows when trying to show us moves that are to say the least challenging! I have the greatest respect for her. Now to the dance itself. In a nutshell it is fun and a fantastic form of exercise. I really look forward to going to the class because I know I will have fun with the rest of the group as we try to master the moves. There is no feeling of ‘I cannot do that because others will laugh at me’ because we are all at a similar level and the atmosphere in the room is one of ‘let’s learn and have fun at the same time no matter what we look like.’ It is easy to laugh at ourselves because of the relaxed atmosphere and we know we may look a bit silly now but will eventually get it!!!! Now the exercise element of belly dancing. I do numerous other exercise classes a week and in comparison this is one of the best ones for giving greater body flexibility and trust me shimmying can certainly give you a cardio workout! Overall, I am so glad I discovered the joy of belly dancing and I will continue to sing the praises of Katerina and the class for a long time. To go to these classes for almost 3 years without having any criticisms is a truly amazing testament in itself. It is the only class I do where it annoys me if I miss one. Final comment – I am not being paid to say this – it all comes from my heart.

  25. I danced from the age of four, being from carribean roots dancing was always part of how we celebrated, growing up I enjoyed, ballet, ballroom dancing, scottish country dancing and disco dancing, my feet were never still, I was always the first on any dance floor encouraging the less confidant to follow suite.I met my husband at a disco, it was my moves that attracted him to me, we had a Friday night ritual of dancing and drinking until the early hours. Then my mother and brother died 8 months apart in 2009 , I never danced another step.Dancing requires a joy of heart and spirit.I began to smoke and drink heavily.14 months later I spotted a sign for egyptian dancing, I loved the idea of it , after some deliberation and persuasion from my husband, I contacted Katerina. I filled out the health proforma, it asked “do you smoke?”, “yes” I replied “do you want to give up?”, “no” I replied “Do you drink?” was the next question “yes” I replied “Do you want to stop?” “no” I replied. Well I joined and went to the sessions.I felt as if I was mastering the moves well, felt great doing them, the other girls in class commented on this, which gave me confidance. Within time friends and family noticed a positive change in me, a new confidance. But I was getting breathless , I knew I had to cut down on my smoking, I was feeling heavy, so I had the confidance to join slimming world, eventually, I stopped smoking, stopped drinking and am losing weight, I am now moving more energetically, I intend to continue in this vein because I love the way I feel now, joy has returned to my spirit, I love egyptian dancing and intend to go on forever.I’ll finish by saying, sing as if no one can hear you, love as if you have never been hurt before and dance as if no one can see you.

  26. I have been going to Katerina’s belly dance classes for over 3 years now and can honestly say it is the best exercise class I have ever done. I call it an exercise class but it is so much more than that. Its a great night out meeting new people, learning some very tricky moves (multi-tasking taken to its limit) and dancing to a beautiful variety of music. Katerina is a great teacher who not only manages to teach us moves we think we will never be able to master but also manages to keep us coming back for more. Her Christmas party is a must for everyone and a great chance to show off all your moves. The student area on the website is brilliant no excuse for not practising, I have my own personal trainer in my lounge!
If you are thinking of taking up belly dancing you won’t find a better teacher. Wendy x

I have ongoing lower back problems and with katerina’s guidance and support the movements have made my back stronger and more supple. I send Katerina my sincere thanks at this time as I will be leaving the area and will miss my monday nights with the girls. Please let me know if you start a class in Norfolk

  28. I have been attending Katerina’s classes for 2 years and agree with all the others that she is an excellent teacher. The routines I have learnt are fun, each one more challenging than the last, and it is so refreshing to dress in the pretty costumes instead of sweaty gym clothes. Belly dancing really is good exercise concentrating on those important core muscles and fairly low impact so I can manage it even when the old knees are complaining. This web site is such a bonus as I can practice the routines at home with my own personal trainer. Thanks Katerina.

  29. I have been belly dancing with Katerina for a few years now and am still enjoying every session. It’s not just the dressing up and giggling that goes on, but the real sense of achievement we get; it’s often only when we look back that we realise how far she has brought us. At the start of every new routine we think we’ll never be able to do that and then suddenly, there we are – co-ordinated and confident and just that bit fitter. This is an activity for every woman, whatever your size, age or shape (and we have them all!). Oh and don’t forget the Christmas parties!

  30. I started bellydance over 5 years ago just to keep my daughter company but was soon hooked! It’s great learning the different moves and putting them together into a routine. Some of them I think “I will never get that” but with Katerina building up your confidence (and plenty of laughs along the way) it suddenly falls into place and it’s great. It has definitely made me more supple and active. I love the skirts and belts, the only problem I have is choosing which one as they are all so gorgeous ! Thanks Katerina, keep up the good work. x

  31. I’ve been to Katerina’s classes for around four years now – most exercise classes I tend to lose interest/motivation to attend. However these classes have held my interest and every week I can’t wait to go to learn new/exciting routines. The atmosphere is great and Katerina’s teaching skills ensure you pick up the new moves quickly. Although I can’t attend every week Katerina is so flexible and works with me – thank you. If you’re looking for something new and exciting, a fun atmosphere to learn in – then Katerina’s classes are just for you, don’t delay start your shimmy today !!

  33. I love belly dancing and really look forward to my weekly class on a Saturday morning. Not only do we learn lots of routines (eventually!!) but we also have enormous fun in the process. Katerina is a great teacher-very encouraging; even when certain movements seem totally impossible, we get there in the end (although, there may be a few exceptions to that last statement coming up!)

  34. I’ve been one of Katerina’s students for 5 years now and Bellydance is the best form of exercise I’ve ever done. It has massively improved my co-ordination and general fitness and the backache I suffered with for years has completely gone. The routines are good, making you feel like you have achieved something without the pressure of exams or grades and I love all the Arabic music that we listen to while learning the moves! I believe that bellydance is empowering for women of any age, size or shape and I couldn’t recommend Katerina as a teacher any higher.

never done a better exercise, it is fun and exotic, but because I am seventy
five years old and have done a lot of different sports in the past I can appreciate how good it is. Katerina is an excellent teacher, she builds the routines up in a way that before you know it, you are doing several things at once that you never expected that you would achieve. I have lost over two stone , my posture is better and problems with some arthritis in my knee has improved. I will not miss any of the classes unless I have to. I love the company and atmosphere of it all.

  38. I joined Katerina’s classes as a beginner nearly six years ago when in my late forties, so it’s never too late to start! I love the dancing – it’s a great form of exercise, you don’t need a partner (ideal if yours has two left feet!), and I like being with a group of really friendly people.

  39. Katerina’s choreography is a delight to watch, learn and perform. Always a challenge at every level, it keeps your interest and makes you feel you have achieved something once you’ve mastered all the new moves!
The skirts are amazing-very comfortable and look great. As they are made to measure they fit perfectly, which is great for myself as a shorter person, as long skirts are often far too long! Wearing one of the skirts to class means that I can concentrate on the class rather than having to re-adjust an ill-fitting skirt constantly.
The tops are equally good and very suitable for class wear and really match well with the skirts. Finally, the belts are top quality and I would definately recommend them as they are great value and interestingly designed.

I have been known in my less sober moments to dance at family parties and would recommend the classes to any woman of any age. Shimmy away girls!!!!
